Tax Law

Tax Problems Usually Start Before the Lawsuit

Tax disputes are rarely only about numbers.

For companies, tax investigations may quickly turn into operational pressure, financial stress, management risk, and sometimes serious reputational damage. That is why I prefer becoming involved before the process turns into a courtroom file.

I regularly work with balance sheets, trial balances, income statements, accounting records, and financial reports while evaluating possible risk areas before or during tax reviews.

I also work closely with accountants and financial advisors during the process. In tax matters, legal strategy and accounting strategy usually need to move together.

VUK 359 & Criminal Risk

Especially in matters involving Article 359 of the Turkish Tax Procedure Law, the process may carry both administrative and criminal consequences at the same time.

In those situations, I work on building a full defense structure from the beginning. This may involve tax investigations, criminal defense strategy, settlement discussions, effective remorse procedures, document reviews, and litigation processes together instead of separately.

Over the years, I have personally handled and concluded several significant files in this area, including matters that created their own practical examples for future cases.

Concordat Processes

I also have direct experience with concordat processes.

This includes preparing concordat applications for debtor companies and representing creditor companies throughout the process from beginning to end.

In practice, these files are rarely only legal matters. Financial structure, operational continuity, creditor psychology, timing, and communication management become part of the process very quickly.

Tax Crisis Management

When tax, accounting, finance, and law start overlapping, working with someone who understands all sides of the discussion becomes much more valuable.

At least that has been my observation over the years.

For companies that want to manage tax risks before the process grows into a larger crisis:
